For a mouth-watering taste of the past, pop into the Jubilee Sweetshop and Sweet Factory. The shelves are full of colourful jars of delicious sweets – childhood memories of boiled sweets in all shapes, sizes and flavours.
In the Factory at the rear, visitors see how sweets were made using techniques, recipes and equipment in the early 1900s.
Local favourites like cinder toffee, black bullets and Tyne mints are hand-made ready to be sold in the Sweetshop next door.
