Festival favourites including the Bishop Auckland Food Festival, the Durham Streets Summer Festival and Brass: Durham International Festival are all set to return in 2015, and the spectacular Lumiere Durham is also back to light up Durham City for four winter evenings in November.

Plus, there is live sport too, as England take on New Zealand in the final Royal London One Day International at Emirates Durham International Cricket Ground in June. And with three Rugby World Cup matches taking place in nearby Newcastle, it's an exciting time for sports fans.

Don’t miss the many exciting exhibitions taking place at some of Durham's fascinating museums, including the UK's first ever Yves Saint Laurent exhibition which will take place at The Bowes Museum from July to October, and at the UNESCO World Heritage Site from 1 June - 31 August you can experience a fascinating Magna Carta exhibition at Durham University's Palace Green Library, marking 800 years since the sealing of one of history's most important documents.
