DETAILS STILL TO BE CONFIRMED: Durham's award-winning, annual Christmas Festival returns in 2012 with a wide range of festive entertainment for all the family in and around the World Heritage Site of the Cathedral and the Castle. In addition to the city centre shops, it typically includes over 200 traders operating throughout the City centre across the weekend - ideal for Christmas presents! The huge craft and gift marquee on Palace Green features over 170 stalls across all three days of the event. In the Cathedral Cloisters, a Local Food Producers Market operates on both Friday and Saturday. In the Cathedral itself, Carols for All services take place on both Saturday and Sunday. Weekend entertainment on Palace Green, between the Cathedral and the Castle, includes a live nativity tableau, sleigh rides around Palace Green from Jingle the Pony, live cooking demonstrations by renowned local chefs and tours of the World Heritage Site, ceramic tile decorating, juggling, a falconry display, tours of the Castle and World Heritage Site, and performances from a wide range of local musicians and traditional brass bands. Childrens' lantern procession takes place on the Saturday from the Market Place to Durham Cathedral.
