Bee Eater Cottage is a large dwelling on a rare breeds working farm (Bison, Elk, Deer, Rhea) situated in Durham's beautiful countryside, with spectacular views over the fields of grazing animals and birds in and around the lake.

The cottage easily accommodates 8 people and a cot. One double room, 1 twin, 1 bunk and a second sitting room which converts into a double bedroom if required, whilst still retaining a large sitting room for guests with a dining room table and 3 piece suite. The kitchen with Aga is well equipped with table and chairs for breakfasting. There is a laundry room and patio area with barbecue.

Guests are welcome to stroll around the parkland and enjoy the views and the animals at their leisure. The neighbouring nature reserve (Site of Special Scientific Interest) boasts orchids and butterflies within a 2 minute walk and a 5 minute drive takes you to Sedgefield Racecourse and a 36 hole golf course.

Durham (historic cathedral city) is 20 minutes away, Beamish Museum, Locomotion - The National Railway Museum at Shildon, MetroCentre and Newcastle with its quayside are 30 minutes drive. Sorry no pets and no smoking. Visit www.farnlessfarmpark.co.uk

Road Directions

From A1(M) Jct 60. Take A689 to Sedgefield/Teeside. Left at the next roundabout onto A177 for Coxhoe. Pass Hardwick Hall Hotel and then golf course on left. At crossroads turn left for Bishop Middleham. Pass farm on left. At the bottom of the hill take first right turn immediately after the lake. Where road forks, take farm track to the right.

Public Transport Directions

From Durham Railway Station - 9 miles
Taxi - Durham to Bishop Middleham. At bottom of hill take first right turn immediately after lake, where road forks. Take farm track to the right.

Bus - Bus Station 5 minutes from Railway Station. Arriva number 56 (hourly 7.55-15.55 outward: 9.15-18.15 return). Other buses - X61 and 723/123 - Change at Sedgefield or Ferryhill. Can collect from Ferryhill bus stop and transport to the farm for a small charge.
