All new at Life!

Exciting things are happening at the Life Science Centre in Newcastle this summer!

On 26 May, the centre will unveil its latest additions following a £1.2million investment – a 4D motion ride and a new ‘Curiosity Zone’.

“What’s a 4D motion ride?” Well, in addition to watching an action-packed adventure, not only do your seats move in time to the on-screen action but there are a few other surprises too – expect to be blasted with wind, sprayed with water – even smells and smoke will be used to transport you to the heart of the action!

While films in the 4D motion ride will change regularly throughout the year with seasonal links, the first film to be showcased is Hover Chase, a high speed race through city streets, oil refineries, forests, and caves.

Elsewhere in the centre, the new ‘Curiosity Zone’ is 100% hands-on and full of exhibits designed to bring out your inner scientist. No more watching and reading, or swallowing facts, just lots of opportunities for you to play and ask the kind of questions scientists do - ‘what happens if…?’ ‘If I put these things together what will it do?’

Visitors can build chain reactions, compose music, create massive machines and sculpt magnetic art. Plus there will be hidden surprises and secret treasures to discover and share as well as new shows in the planetarium and science theatre – all included in the price of admission.
The Curiosity Zone and the 4D motion ride open to the public on Saturday 26 May.
