Raby Castle
Raby Castle is one of England's finest medieval castles. This magnificent fortress in the heart of Teesdale near Darlington has been home to Lord Barnard's family since 1626.
If your group are looking for something a little bit special, then Raby Castle can provide a private VIP guided tour of the castle, which includes refreshments in the impressive Entrance Hall, which was created into its present dramatic form by John Carr for the 2nd Earl of Darlington, to celebrate the coming of age of his heir in 1787. The roof was raised to enable carriages to pass through the Hall and the result is a stunning interior in the Gothic Revival style. This is then followed by private tour taking in all main highlights including the vast Barons' Hall is where it reputed against Elizabeth 1. The splendid Victorian drawing room displays one of the most striking interiors from the 19th Century and the medieval kitchen, which was in full use until 1954.
