Durham’s Gala Theatre and the Old Cinema Launderette have teamed up to bring the city a new, boutique music festival: The Launderette Sessions.

The first ever Launderette Sessions takes place between 21 - 24 September 2017 in the Gala and Old Cinema Launderette, as well as Durham Town Hall, and is set to bring some amazing musical talent to the city.

Kicking off the festival is legendary band The Blockheads, who will be carrying on Ian Dury’s legacy by providing some ‘Reasons To Be Cheerful’ at the Gala. Meanwhile, frontman of British indie rockers The Bluetones Mark Moriss will be playing an intimate solo gig, promising classics from his band, solo career and a few covers too.

The sessions continue with Edinburgh-born troubadour Ross Wilson, better known as Blue Rose Code, who’s set to perform tracks from his acclaimed new album ‘… And Lo! The Bird Is On The Wing.’ Sunderland’s own singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist The Lake Poets will also be weaving tunes about love and heartbreak at Gala’s Studio, while American John Murry takes to the Launderette to share his redemption songs.

Inspired by his hometown of Dundee, producer and writer Andrew Wasylyk brings romanticised tales of the city’s post-war landscape to the Launderette’s cosy surroundings. Rounding off the festival, Oxford-born singer Thea Gilmore presents the honeyed tones and insightful honesty of her latest, fifteenth album to Durham’s Town Hall.
