Historic parkland (73 acres) 7 miles from Durham, former home of the Shafto family, including Bonny Bobbie Shafto, for over 300 years.
Hand-feed the resident red and fallow deer, ornamental lake with waterfowl and coarse fishing, woodland walk and Victorian walled garden featuring Britain's most northerly vineyard. Indoor and outdoor children's play areas, deer food, duck food and fishing permits available from The Lakeside Inn and Restaurant, which together with Whitworth Hall Hotel provides refreshments, meals, facilities and ample free parking.
For a taste of old England why not come along to our newly-built bandstand situated in the park and listen to Spennymoor Town Band playing songs old and new - ring for details.
Please note, the Summer Fun brochure incorrectly stated that Whitworth Hall Country Park is a picnic spot, however, unfortunately picnics are not permitted. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.
