Woodland village is a small community perched high on the slopes of the lower Teesdale valley on the edge of the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Lying between the Yorkshire Dales and the Northumberland National Park the Durham Dales of Teesdale and Weardale offer some of the country's finest scenery-a blend of rugged upland, impressive waterfalls, gentle river valleys, wildflower meadows and dry stone walls.
Woodland offers a good base for exploring the area and there is plenty of scope for walking and other outdoor activities, which can all be enjoyed amidst the impressive North Pennine scenery.
Less well known than other regions the area is surprisingly unspoilt and uncrowded, even at peak holiday periods.
