The Old Power House on the outskirts of Plawsworth village is ideally located 3 miles to the north of Durham city centre and 3 miles from the Roman town of Chester-le-Street in the heart of County Durham, allowing easy access to all the region's business centres and many tourist attractions. Plawsworth is a small hamlet of approximately 40 houses, a busy pub serving food and a working farm.
The Old Power House, in the grounds of Garden Cottage, is in the centre of the Southill Estate, currently operated as a regional equestrian centre. Southill Hall was sold some years ago for development as Judges Lodgings, shortly thereafter the walled garden area was purchased by the current owners and the Old Power House to the main hall was subsequently converted into a unique small garden cottage set in 3 acres of landscaped gardens and woodland.
The accommodation has been recently refurbished to a high standard with the benefit of modern thermal insulation, double glazing and electric convector heating but maintaining many of the original features and incorporating a gallery bedroom area over the lounge with a second ground floor bedroom, bathroom and kitchen facilities, all at ground floor.
