The Durham and Yorkshire Dales, Beamish, Kirkleatham and The Bowes Museums, Locomotion, historic Durham City with its castle and cathedral and Bishop Auckland with its castle and Town Hall are all within easy travelling distance. Further afield is Newcastle with its Quayside and great shopping and Gateshead’s MetroCentre.

For those who just wish to relax in the village, The Ship Inn public house offers a fine selection of real ales and home-cooked meals.
